WoW Forever's Nine New Dungeons: Level Ranges, Locations and How to Get In
WoW Forever adds nine new five-player dungeons between levels 13 and 60, six in the Eastern Kingdoms and three in Kalimdor. Blizzard's dungeon overview of October 20 gives each one's level range, location and access notes. Here they are in leveling order, with the one range that differs from the beta and what to know before you head in.

All nine, in leveling order
| Dungeon | Levels | Where |
|---|---|---|
| The Hall of Thanes | 13–18 | Beneath Ironforge, Dun Morogh |
| Ruins of Lordaeron | 15–20 | The ruined city above the Undercity, Tirisfal Glades |
| Excavation Site: Wetlands | 24–29 | Above Whelgar's Excavation, near Thelgen Rock and Dun Algaz, Wetlands |
| City of Dalaran | 28–33 | Alterac Mountains |
| The Drowned City | 35–40 | Off the coast of Stranglethorn Vale, west of Grom'gol |
| Krol'dok Stronghold | 40–45 | The Riverglades |
| Alcaz Prison | 48–53 | Alcaz Island, Dustwallow Marsh |
| Blackmaw Hold | 55–60 | Behind a long-sealed gate in Azshara |
| Shaper's Terrace | 58–60 | The northern hills of Un'Goro Crater |
Six are in the Eastern Kingdoms and three in Kalimdor. Alongside the original dungeons, they give groups a new option at almost every stage of the climb from the low teens to level 60.
One level range differs from the beta
Blizzard's overview lists the Excavation Site at levels 24–29. When the beta opened it on October 1, the development notes gave it as a dungeon for levels 26–31, and that's how the beta build played: its quests could be picked up from level 24, but its last boss, the Relic Guardian, was level 31.
Blizzard hasn't said whether the dungeon was retuned for launch. Until it does, a group at the bottom of the range should expect the final boss to be a few levels above them, as it was in the beta.
Enemy territory, an attunement and an underwater door
- Hall of Thanes is reached from inside Ironforge, which is easy for the Alliance. Horde groups have to make the journey into Alliance territory.
- Ruins of Lordaeron is the reverse: Horde players walk in from the Undercity, while Alliance groups venture into Horde territory.
- City of Dalaran needs an attunement. Alliance players start with An Alarming Request from Emissary Jacques in Southshore; Horde players start with Key to the City and Prison Break-In from Magus Wordeen Voidglare in Tarren Mill. Once the Kirin Tor trust you, your group enters through the sewers. Our Dalaran Sewer Key guide has the steps.
- The Drowned City has its entrance under water: dive below the surface to find it.
- Shaper's Terrace asks you to bring power crystals gathered across Un'Goro Crater and use them at consoles inside.
What waits inside
- Hall of Thanes: intruders, suspected to be Dark Iron dwarves, in the tomb of the dwarven kings, where ghostly whispers still echo.
- Ruins of Lordaeron: the Forsaken reclaiming their ruined capital from the Scourge, and a necromancer gathering power.
- Excavation Site: a place seemingly frozen in time beyond the dig, guarded by errant titan constructs and dangerous wildlife.
- City of Dalaran: the barrier has fallen, enchantments backfire and constructs run wild, with several paths and encounters on the way to the source of the chaos.
- The Drowned City: troll ruins risen from the ocean, trolls and naga, a wrecked pirate ship, and weather that builds from mist and rain into a full storm before the final fight.
- Krol'dok Stronghold: the fortress of the ogres raiding the Riverglades, full of workshops and camps, with strange chanting after nightfall.
- Alcaz Prison: the Defias Brotherhood and naga fighting inside the prison long rumored to have held King Varian Wrynn.
- Blackmaw Hold: a great furbolg city struggling against a spreading corruption, with several routes and bosses, and a path that may lead even deeper.
- Shaper's Terrace: an ancient titan facility above Un'Goro Crater, with dinosaurs, tar pits and powerful crystals.
Plan your leveling around them
Blizzard's guide for returning players, published on October 29, lists all nine among what awaits in WoW Forever. Since the October 1 beta build, dungeon kills give more experience and dungeon quests less, which makes running them a real alternative to questing; see WoW Forever October Beta: Dungeon Experience, Honor Prices and the Level 30 Cap.
Our dungeon guides cover the four new dungeons tested in the beta, Hall of Thanes, Ruins of Lordaeron, Excavation Site and City of Dalaran, boss by boss. The other five have cards with what Blizzard has shared so far. Blackmaw Hold is also one of the ways into the Barrow Deeps raid: see WoW Forever Raids on December 9: Barrow Deeps for 10, Hyjal Summit for 20, Onyxia for 40.
