How the run goes

The Scourge-held ruins of Lordaeron's capital above the Undercity. Fight through spiders, abominations and spirits to the necromancer Rath'mael in the graveyard. Viktor the Vile is an optional event boss, and a rare captain sometimes appears.

Group: A tank, a healer and three damage dealers; stuns and interrupts help against The Baron, The Abandoned and Rath'mael.

Route

The game has no interior map of Ruins of Lordaeron we can draw on, so the route is written out below.

  1. 1.The streets

From the entrance past Witherfang's patrol, then through the old streets: The Baron with its skeleton guards, The Abandoned's waves in the market square, and Bjork patrolling the middle of the ruins.

    2. 2The Baron
    3. 3The Abandoned
    4. 4Bjork
  2. 2.The graveyard

On to the graveyard, where Rath'mael waits behind the fog as the last boss.

    1. 5Rath'mael
  3. 3.Optional bosses

Viktor the Vile's event is in the south-west of the ruins; rest to full before you start it. The Lordaeron Captain is a rare that only appears on some runs.

Boss by boss

The streets

On the way: Spiders near the entrance, skeleton packs, ghoul packs around Bjork and wailing spirits in the fog.

    • Leech PoisonDrains 2 health from an enemy every 2 sec over 16 sec, transferring it to you.

A giant spider patrolling near the entrance with a couple of spiders around it. Leech Poison drains the tank's health into the spider over time.

    Tanks
Wait for the patrol to move clear of the other spiders, then pull; pick up the adds first and keep Witherfang on you.
    Healers
Leech Poison drains the tank steadily and heals the spider: heal steadily and cure poison if you can.
    Damage dealers
Kill the small spiders first, then Witherfang; curing or burning faster limits how much it heals.
  1. An abomination guarded by skeleton packs. It hits very hard and can knock the tank out.

    Tanks
Clear the skeleton packs first; keep your health near full before its heavy hits and use a cooldown if it knocks you out.
    Healers
Keep the tank near full health at all times: The Baron's hits come hard and fast.
    Damage dealers
Use stuns when the tank is in trouble and watch your threat while the tank is knocked out.
  2. 3

    The Abandoned

    Loot and drops →
    • Life DrainDrains 50 health, transferring it to the caster.

A spirit that rises in the market square after waves of the dead. Frost Nova roots the group, and Life Drain heals him from the tank.

    Tanks
Pick up each wave of the dead as it comes, then The Abandoned; he roots you with Frost Nova, so don't stand in anything.
    Healers
Stay in range of the tank before Frost Nova roots you, and heal through Life Drain.
    Damage dealers
Kill the waves quickly, then interrupt or stun Life Drain as it starts so he can't heal from the tank.
    • Anti-Magic ShieldCreates an anti-magic shell around you granting magic immunity for 3 sec.

A huge undead troll patrolling the middle of the ruins, with ghoul packs nearby. Anti-Magic Shield makes him immune to magic for a few seconds.

    Tanks
Pull him from range so the ghoul packs stay where they are, and hold him away from them.
    Healers
Keep the tank healthy; if a ghoul pack joins, heal the tank through it while the group kills the ghouls.
    Damage dealers
Casters hold their big spells while Anti-Magic Shield is up; physical damage keeps going.

The graveyard

  1. The skeletal necromancer behind the fog, waiting in the graveyard as the last boss. Flamestrike sets the ground on fire where it lands.

    Tanks
Hold him where the group has room to move, and move him out of Flamestrike's fire when it lands under you.
    Healers
Step out of the fire as soon as it lands; heal anyone who stayed in it.
    Damage dealers
Stun or interrupt Flamestrike when you can and move out of the fire when you can't.

Optional bosses

  1. 6

    Viktor the Vile

    Loot and drops →

An optional boss behind an event in the south-west of the ruins. Several waves of undead come first, with little rest between them, before Viktor joins.

    Tanks
Pick up each wave of undead as it arrives and gather them for area damage; take Viktor as soon as he arrives.
    Healers
Start the event at full mana; there's little time to drink between the waves.
    Damage dealers
Kill each wave quickly with area damage, then switch to Viktor when he joins.
  2. 7

    Lordaeron Captain

    Loot and drops →

A rare that isn't there on every run. When it is, it guards its spot with packs around it.

    Tanks
Clear the packs around it, then pull the captain on its own and hold it away from the group.
    Healers
Treat it as a strong elite: heal the tank steadily and stay within range.
    Damage dealers
Kill the surrounding packs first, then burn the captain once the tank has it.

Before you go

  • Witherfang patrols near the entrance: wait until it moves away from the other spiders before you pull.
  • Keep the tank near full health before The Baron's heavy hits, and stun him when you can.
  • Stun or interrupt Rath'mael's Flamestrike; when you can't, move out of the fire.
  • Viktor the Vile is optional. His event sends several waves first with little rest between them, so start it at full mana.
  • No key or attunement. Built for levels 15–20; most of its quests can be taken from level 15 or 16.
