Earning Honor
- Honorable kills: enemy players who are worth Honor to you.
- Battleground objectives award bonus Honor to the whole team, counted in bonus kills. In Warsong Gulch a flag capture is worth 3 bonus kills and a win 1.
- In Alterac Valley the General is worth 6 bonus kills, a Captain 3, each Lieutenant or Commander 1, each destroyed tower 2, keeping your Captain alive 2, and each intact tower, graveyard and mine you hold at the end 1.
- Arathi Basin turns the resources your team gathers into bonus Honor, so both teams leave with some.
- Dishonorable kills (civilian NPCs) count against you.
From Honor to Contribution Points
Blizzard published three points of the conversion: 45,000 Honor is 20,000 CP (Rank 6), 175,000 Honor is 40,000 CP (Rank 10) and 500,000 Honor is 65,000 CP, the weekly maximum. Honor is worth less CP at higher ranks; between these points the conversion is a straight line.
Frequently asked questions
- How much Honor do I need for a given rank in one week?
- Your expected rank is the highest rank whose CP threshold your week's CP reaches. 45,000 Honor reaches Rank 6, 175,000 Rank 10 and 500,000 Rank 14. The table on this page lists every rank.
- Does reaching the expected rank mean I get it this week?
- No. The expected rank decides how many rank steps you are paid for, up to four, each reduced by that rank's change factor. See the Ranks page for the weekly calculation.
