How the run goes
Kel'Thuzad's floating necropolis over the Eastern Plaguelands: four wings in any order, the Arachnid, Plague, Military and Construct Quarters, each ending at a portal back to the centre. With all four done, the Frostwyrm Lair opens for Sapphiron and Kel'Thuzad.
Group: Forty players with deep tank and healer benches: the Four Horsemen need eight tanks, Loatheb a strict healing rotation, Sapphiron frost resistance for everyone and Kel'Thuzad shadow protection and interrupts.
Map and route
1.Arachnid Quarter
Anub'Rekhan in the first chamber, Grand Widow Faerlina with her worshippers, then Maexxna in her web.
2.Plague Quarter
Noth the Plaguebringer, then Heigan the Unclean's dance floor, then Loatheb.
3.Military Quarter
Instructor Razuvious and his understudies, Gothik the Harvester's divided room, then the Four Horsemen.
4.Construct Quarter
Patchwerk, then Grobbulus over the slime, Gluth, and Thaddius beyond.
5.Frostwyrm Lair
With all four wings cleared, the portal in the centre takes you up to Sapphiron, and past him to Kel'Thuzad.

Locust Swarm
Impale
A crypt lord with two Crypt Guards. Impale throws players in a line in front of him into the air; Locust Swarm silences and damages everyone near him for a while, during which he walks slowly after his target. Scarabs rise from the dead.
- Normal: tank him at the edge of the room; off-tanks hold the Crypt Guards apart.
- Locust Swarm: the tank walks him around the room, staying ahead of him, while the raid keeps out of his range and damages him from behind.
- Tanks
- Main tank leads him in a wide circle during Locust Swarm and turns him back once it ends. Off-tanks pick up each Crypt Guard and keep it away from the raid.
- Healers
- Stay out of Impale's line in front of him and well clear of the swarm. Heal the kiting tank on the move.
- Damage dealers
- Kill the Crypt Guards first and burn their scarabs with area damage away from the raid. Never stand in front of him or in his path during the swarm.

EnrageIncreases the caster's attack speed by 75% and the Physical damage it deals by 150 for 30 min.
Poison Bolt VolleyShoots poison at an enemy, inflicting Nature damage, then additional damage every 2 sec. for 8 sec.
Rain of FireCalls down a molten rain, burning all enemies in a selected area for 1850 to 2150 Fire damage every 2 sec. for 6 sec.
A priestess with four Naxxramas Worshippers and two Followers. She casts Poison Bolt Volley on the raid and Rain of Fire on the ground, and enrages. Killing a worshipper next to her (Widow's Embrace) removes the enrage and stops her from casting for a while.
- Tanks
- Main tank holds Faerlina; off-tanks pick up the followers, whose Silence and Charge are dangerous to casters.
- Healers
- Poison Bolt Volley hits everyone near the front: cure poison. Move out of Rain of Fire at once.
- Damage dealers
- Priests mind-control a worshipper and walk it to her; kill it beside her each time she enrages. Don't kill worshippers early: they're your enrage answer.

Web Spray
Poison Shock
Necrotic Poison
EnrageIncreases the caster's attack speed by 50% and the Physical damage it deals by 100 for 10 min.
A giant spider. Web Wrap cocoons players on the walls; Web Spray stuns the whole raid for several seconds while she keeps hitting the tank; Necrotic Poison cuts the tank's healing; spiderlings swarm out. She enrages at low health.
- Tanks
- Have every cooldown ready for Web Spray: you can't be healed during it. Use one late in the fight for her enrage.
- Healers
- Before each Web Spray, put a shield and heals over time on the tank. Cure Necrotic Poison quickly.
- Damage dealers
- Ranged break players out of their wraps on the walls. Kill spiderlings with area damage, then all on Maexxna.

CrippleIncreases the time between an enemy's attacks by 100% and its movement by 50%, in addition to reducing its Strength by 50%. Lasts 15 sec.
BlinkTeleports the caster 20 yd. forward unless something is in the way. Also frees the caster from any bonds.
Curse of the PlaguebringerCurses the target with the Curse of the Plaguebringer. If the target is not dispelled of the curse, the target will become infected along with all nearby allies in a selected area with the Wrath of the Plaguebringer.
A necromancer who curses players with Curse of the Plaguebringer, cripples, and blinks, dropping all threat. Every so often he teleports to his balcony and waves of skeletons attack from the corners.
- Tanks
- After each Blink he goes for anyone: pick him up again at once. During the balcony phases, gather the skeletons on you.
- Healers
- Remove Curse of the Plaguebringer immediately; it spreads damage if left. Heal through the skeleton waves.
- Damage dealers
- Kill skeleton waves with area damage while he's away, and don't out-threat the tank after a Blink.

Mana BurnHits an enemy with an anti-mana bolt. For each point of mana consumed by the bolt, the target takes 1 damage.
Decrepit Fever
Heigan's floor is split into four sections that erupt one after another. The raid 'dances', moving to each section as it becomes safe. He burns mana, spreads Decrepit Fever and periodically teleports to his platform, where the eruptions speed up.
- Floor: the tank holds him while the raid moves through the sections in step with the eruptions.
- Platform: he teleports away and the eruptions come faster; everyone dances until he returns.
- Tanks
- Lead the dance with him, moving to the next safe section as soon as it opens.
- Healers
- Cure Decrepit Fever. Stand back from his Mana Burn range, and keep healing while moving.
- Damage dealers
- Follow the safe section; nobody stops to finish a cast. Damage comes second to surviving the dance.

Poison Aura
Summon Spore
Corrupted Mind
Inevitable DoomInflicts 2550 Shadow damage to nearby enemies after 10 sec.
Remove CurseDispels 32 curses from an ally.
A fungal horror with Corrupted Mind: each healer can cast only one heal a minute, so healers take turns. Inevitable Doom hits the raid with heavy shadow damage over time, growing more frequent. Spores appear; killing one gives nearby players a big critical-strike buff and no threat.
- Tanks
- Hold him in the centre; a good shadow resistance set helps.
- Healers
- Follow a strict rotation: one big heal on the tank at your turn. Shadow protection potions and healthstones carry the raid through Inevitable Doom.
- Damage dealers
- Rotate groups to kill spores so each group gets the crit buff in turn; shadow protection and bandages help.
Military Quarter
On the way: Death knights and their horses; Necro Knights blink and cast area spells.

Disrupting ShoutScream fiercely, burning 4050 to 4950 mana from enemies.
Hopeless
Unbalancing StrikeInflicts 350% weapon damage and leaves the target unbalanced, reducing their defense skill by 100 for 6 sec.
Razuvious's Unbalancing Strike would kill a normal tank, so priests mind-control his four Deathknight Understudies and use them to tank him with Taunt and Bone Barrier. Disrupting Shout burns mana and damages everyone near him.
- Tanks
- Warriors hold the understudies the priests aren't controlling, keeping them away from the raid.
- Healers
- Heal the controlled understudies as they take his strikes. Disrupting Shout burns mana: stay back.
- Damage dealers
- Priests rotate mind control and taunts; everyone else damages Razuvious.

Harvest SoulReduce enemy's health and mana by 10%.
Shadow BoltHurls a bolt of dark magic at an enemy, inflicting Shadow damage.
Gothik's room is split by a gate. Living trainees, knights and riders arrive on one side; when they die, their undead versions rise on the other. After a time the gate opens and Gothik comes down; Harvest Soul stacks on the raid.
- Tanks
- Tanks on both sides of the gate pick up each wave; once the gate opens, one tank takes Gothik.
- Healers
- Split the healers between the living and undead sides, then gather when the gate opens.
- Damage dealers
- Balance damage so neither side gets overrun; when the gate opens, burn Gothik before Harvest Soul stacks too high.

Mark of Blaumeux
Void ZoneSummon a Void Zone that deals shadow damage to enemies that stand within it
Mark of Korth'azz
MeteorDo damage divided up evenly among all affected targets
Four horsemen tanked in the four corners of the room. Each leaves a stacking mark on players near them that hurts more with every stack, so tanks and healers rotate between corners. Blaumeux makes Void Zones, Korth'azz drops Meteors, Zeliek chains Holy Wrath, Mograine burns with Righteous Fire. Each uses Shield Wall at low health.
- Tanks
- Eight tanks: two per horseman, rotating on a timer so nobody holds marks too long. Know your rotation before the pull.
- Healers
- Healers rotate between corners on the same timer as the tanks. Never stay with marks stacking up.
- Damage dealers
- Kill one horseman at a time, the raid's chosen order. Spread out near Zeliek so Holy Wrath chains less; move out of void zones.
Construct Quarter
On the way: Patchwork golems and Bile Retchers; Living Monstrosities chain lightning.

BerserkIncreases the caster's attack speed by 150% and the Physical damage it deals by 500 for 5 min.
A pure damage and healing race. Hateful Strike hits, every few seconds, the melee player with the most health among those near the top of his threat list. He enrages at low health and berserks after a time limit.
- Tanks
- The main tank holds threat; three off-tanks with the most health stay near the top of the threat list to soak Hateful Strike.
- Healers
- Assign healers to each soaker: Hateful Strikes are huge and come every few seconds.
- Damage dealers
- Melee must keep lower health than the soakers. Everything into damage: the berserk timer is the fight.

Poison Cloud
Mutating InjectionInjects a target with a mutagen that transforms them into an abomination after 10 sec.
BerserkIncreases the caster's attack speed by 150% and the Physical damage it deals by 500 for 5 min.
An abomination who leaves poison clouds behind him as he moves, sprays slime in front of him that spawns Fallout Slimes, and injects players with Mutating Injection: when it expires, it explodes into a poison cloud.
- Tanks
- Move him slowly around the edge of the room so his clouds stay out of the way.
- Healers
- Don't cure Mutating Injection until the player is clear of the raid: curing it early sets it off.
- Damage dealers
- If injected, run to the room's edge before it expires. Kill Fallout Slimes quickly.

Frenzy
Mortal Wound
Terrifying RoarCauses nearby enemies to flee in fear for 5 sec.
BerserkIncreases the caster's attack speed by 150% and the Physical damage it deals by 500 for 5 min.
A plague hound. Mortal Wound stacks on the tank, Terrifying Roar fears nearby players, and he frenzies. Every so often Decimate drops everyone, zombies included, to low health; zombies stream into the room and he eats them to heal.
- Tanks
- Two tanks swap on Mortal Wound stacks. Kiters keep the zombies away with slows and frost traps.
- Healers
- After each Decimate, heal the whole raid back up fast.
- Damage dealers
- A hunter tranquilizes his Frenzy. After Decimate, area damage kills the weakened zombies before they reach him.

Polarity Shift
Chain LightningStrikes an enemy with a lightning bolt that arcs to another nearby enemy. The spell affects up to 15 targets, inflicting greater Nature damage to each successive target.
Ball Lightning
First Stalagg and Feugen on two platforms, joined by a Tesla coil: they must die close together. Then the raid jumps to Thaddius, whose Polarity Shift gives every player a positive or negative charge. Players near the opposite charge take damage; players with the same charge gain damage.
- Stalagg and Feugen: a tank on each; Magnetic Pull swaps the tanks between platforms. Kill them within seconds of each other.
- Thaddius: after each Polarity Shift, positives go to one side and negatives to the other. Chain Lightning hits the raid; he berserks after a time limit.
- Tanks
- On the first phase, be ready for the platform swap. On Thaddius, hold him in the middle so both sides can reach him.
- Healers
- Move to your charge's side after every shift; Chain Lightning means steady raid healing.
- Damage dealers
- Move to your charge's side after every shift and keep up damage: being with your own charge makes you hit much harder.

CleaveInflicts normal damage plus 50 to an enemy and its nearest allies, affecting up to 10 targets.
Tail SweepInflicts 600 to 1000 damage on enemies in a cone behind the caster, knocking them back.
Life Drain
Summon Blizzard
The frost wyrm guarding Kel'Thuzad. On the ground his Frost Aura damages everyone constantly, Life Drain curses players, Blizzards move across the floor, and he cleaves and sweeps his tail. In the air he encases random players in ice blocks, then breathes a lethal Frost Breath: hide behind the blocks to survive.
- Ground: tank him facing away, decurse Life Drain and move out of the Blizzards.
- Air: players turned to ice become cover; everyone else stands behind an ice block, out of his sight, before the breath lands.
- Tanks
- Hold him facing away from the raid on the ground. Frost resistance gear is essential.
- Healers
- Frost resistance for everyone; decurse Life Drain at once and heal through the aura.
- Damage dealers
- Stand to his side, away from the cleave and the tail. In the air phase, get behind an ice block, every time.

Chains of Kel'Thuzad
Frost Blast
Detonate Mana
Blood Tap
FrostboltInflicts Frost damage to an enemy and reduces its movement speed for 4 sec.
Shadow Fissure
The lich himself. First, waves of soldiers, Unstoppable Abominations and Soul Weavers come from the alcoves around his room while he channels. Then he fights: Frostbolt (interrupt it), Frost Blast that freezes and damages, Detonate Mana, Shadow Fissures on the floor and Chains of Kel'Thuzad that mind-control players. At low health, Guardians of Icecrown join the fight.
- Minions: hold your positions in the middle of the room; kill the abominations and weavers as they come, without pulling the alcoves.
- Kel'Thuzad: spread out; interrupt Frostbolt, move out of fissures, and control mind-controlled players.
- Guardians: priests shackle the Guardians of Icecrown while the raid finishes him.
- Tanks
- Off-tanks pick up abominations in the first phase and any Guardians not shackled in the last.
- Healers
- Spread out so Frost Blast hits as few as possible, and heal its victims at once. Shadow protection helps.
- Damage dealers
- Interrupt every Frostbolt, move out of Shadow Fissures, and never stand in a group for Frost Blast.
Before you go
- Prepare frost resistance and frost protection for Sapphiron; plan shadow protection for Loatheb.
- Assign tanks and rotations before the Four Horsemen rather than improvising after the pull.
- Bring enough consumables for a long raid and establish which wing the group will tackle first.
- Complete The Dread Citadel – Naxxramas through Archmage Angela Dosantos at Light's Hope Chapel. The entry donation decreases with Argent Dawn reputation and is free at Exalted.
