How the run goes
Kel'Thuzad's necropolis, moved over Dragonblight and rebuilt for level 80 in ten- and twenty-five-player versions. Four wings in any order: Arachnid, Plague, Military and Construct Quarters. Each ends at a portal back to the centre; with all four done, the Frostwyrm Lair opens for Sapphiron and Kel'Thuzad.
Group: Ten or twenty-five players: two tanks (three for the Four Horsemen and Patchwerk's soaks on 25), two or three healers for ten, five or six for twenty-five, and the rest damage dealers. No frost resistance is needed for Sapphiron.
Map and route
1.Arachnid Quarter
Anub'Rekhan in the first chamber, Grand Widow Faerlina and her worshippers beyond, then Maexxna in her web.
2.Plague Quarter
Noth the Plaguebringer, then the eruption hallway to Heigan the Unclean, then Loatheb.
3.Military Quarter
Instructor Razuvious with his understudies, Gothik the Harvester's divided room, then the Four Horsemen.
4.Construct Quarter
Patchwerk first, then Grobbulus over the slime pool, Gluth, and Thaddius's laboratory.
5.Frostwyrm Lair
With all four wings cleared, the portal in the centre takes you up to Sapphiron, and through his lair to Kel'Thuzad.

A crypt lord with Crypt Guards and scarabs. Impale throws players in a line in front of him; Locust Swarm silences and damages everyone near him while he walks slowly after the tank.
- Tanks
- Kite him around the room during Locust Swarm, staying ahead of him, and turn him back when it ends. An off-tank picks up the Crypt Guards.
- Healers
- Stand out of Impale's line in front of him and well clear of the swarm; heal the kiting tank on the move.
- Damage dealers
- Kill the Crypt Guards first and burn the scarabs with area damage, then damage Anub'Rekhan from behind as he's kited.

Poison Bolt VolleyShoots poison at all enemies, inflicting 2625 to 3375 Nature damage, then additional damage every 2 sec. for 8 sec.
Rain of FireCalls down a molten rain, burning all enemies in a selected area for 2313 to 2687 Fire damage every 2 sec. for 6 sec.
FrenzyIncreases the caster's attack speed by 50% and the Physical damage it deals by 150 for 30 min.
Widow's EmbracePrevents and removes frenzy. Silences nature spells for 30 sec. Reduces casting speed by 25%.
Faerlina with her worshippers and followers. She casts Poison Bolt Volley on the raid and Rain of Fire on the ground, and Frenzies. A worshipper killed next to her gives her Widow's Embrace, which removes the frenzy and stops her casting for a while.
- Tanks
- Main tank holds Faerlina; off-tanks pick up the followers, whose charge and silence are dangerous to casters.
- Healers
- Poison Bolt Volley hits the players closest to her: cure poison and keep them topped up. Move out of Rain of Fire at once.
- Damage dealers
- Save a worshipper for each Frenzy and kill it right beside her; don't kill worshippers early or you'll have none left for the frenzy.

Necrotic PoisonReduces healing by 75% for 30 sec.

- Tanks
- Use a defensive cooldown for every Web Spray, when no one can heal you, and save one for her frenzy.
- Healers
- Shield and heal-over-time the tank before each Web Spray; cure Necrotic Poison quickly.
- Damage dealers
- Ranged break players out of their wraps on the walls; area damage kills the spiderlings; then all on Maexxna.

Curse of the PlaguebringerCurses the target with the Curse of the Plaguebringer. If the target is not dispelled of the curse, the target will become infected along with all nearby allies in a selected area with the Wrath of the Plaguebringer.
CrippleIncreases the time between an enemy's attacks by 100% and its movement by 50%, in addition to reducing its Strength by 50%. Lasts 15 sec.
BlinkTeleports the caster 20 yd. forward unless something is in the way. Also frees the caster from any bonds.
A necromancer who curses players with Curse of the Plaguebringer, cripples and Blinks, dropping all threat. Every so often he teleports to his balcony and skeleton waves attack from the corners.
- Tanks
- After each Blink, pick him up again at once. During his balcony phases, gather the skeletons on you.
- Healers
- Remove Curse of the Plaguebringer immediately: left alone, it explodes into shadow damage on nearby players.
- Damage dealers
- Kill the skeleton waves with area damage while he's away, and don't out-threat the tank after a Blink.

Spell DisruptionHits nearby enemies with a magic disruption effect, decreasing the casting speed of the targets by 300%.
Decrepit FeverInflicts 3000 Nature damage every 3 sec. and reduces the maximum health of all nearby targets by 50% for 21 sec.
Heigan's floor is split into four sections that erupt one after another; the raid dances through the safe sections. Spell Disruption slows casting near him, Decrepit Fever lowers health. He teleports to his platform now and then, and the eruptions speed up.
- Floor: the tank holds him at the first section while the raid moves through the sections in step with the eruptions.
- Platform: he teleports away and the eruptions come much faster; everyone dances until he returns.
- Tanks
- Lead the dance with him, moving to the next safe section as soon as it opens, and keep him there.
- Healers
- Cure Decrepit Fever; stay out of Spell Disruption's range so your heals cast at normal speed, and heal while moving.
- Damage dealers
- Follow the safe section and never stand still to finish a cast; surviving the dance comes first.

BerserkIncreases the caster's attack and movement speeds by 150% and all damage it deals by 500% for 5 min. Also grants immunity to Taunt effects.
A fungal horror whose Necrotic Aura stops all healing for most of each cycle, leaving a short window when heals work. Inevitable Doom hits the raid with shadow damage over time, Deathbloom stacks on players, and spores appear: killing one gives nearby players a big crit buff.
- Tanks
- Hold him in the centre and save a defensive cooldown for each no-healing stretch.
- Healers
- Pour all your healing into the short windows when Necrotic Aura is down; shields still absorb during the aura.
- Damage dealers
- Rotate groups to kill spores so everyone gets the crit buff; push damage hard: the fight is a race against Inevitable Doom.

On the way: Death knight captains and cavaliers, and Necro Knights that blink and blast.

Disrupting ShoutScream fiercely, dealing 4275 to 4725 Physical damage to nearby enemies.
HopelessIncreases the damage dealt by nearby Death Knight Understudies by 5000%.
Razuvious's Unbalancing Strike would kill a normal tank, so players use the Obedience Crystals to mind-control his Death Knight Understudies, who tank him with Bone Barrier and taunt. Disrupting Shout hits everyone near him and Jagged Knife bleeds a player.
- Tanks
- On twenty-five players, regular tanks can hold an understudy; otherwise help with crystal duty or damage.
- Healers
- Heal the controlled understudies as they take his strikes; stay away from Disrupting Shout's range.
- Damage dealers
- Crystal controllers rotate taunts and Bone Barrier on the understudies; everyone else damages Razuvious.

Gothik's room is split by a gate. Living trainees, knights and riders arrive on one side; when they die, their undead versions rise on the other. After a while the gate opens and Gothik himself comes down.

- Healers
- Split healers between the living and undead sides, then gather when the gate opens.

Four horsemen: Baron Rivendare and Thane Korth'azz at the front are tanked by melee tanks, Lady Blaumeux and Sir Zeliek at the back attack whoever is closest and are handled by ranged groups. Each puts a stacking mark on players near them; players rotate between corners before the marks get deadly.
- Tanks

- Healers
- Healers rotate between the front and back corners as marks stack; Zeliek's Holy Wrath chains between close players.

- Kill the front pair first in most strategies; ranged at the back rotate on marks, stay spread near Zeliek and move out of Blaumeux's void zones.
Construct Quarter
On the way: Patchwork golems, Bile Retchers and Living Monstrosities that chain lightning.

A damage race. Hateful Strike hits, every second or so, the melee player with the most health among those near the top of his threat list. He frenzies at low health and berserks after a time limit.
- Tanks
- The main tank holds threat; one or two off-tanks with high health stay near the top of the threat list in melee to soak Hateful Strike.
- Healers
- Assign healers to each soaker: Hateful Strikes are huge and frequent.
- Damage dealers
- Melee must keep less health than the soakers. Everything else is damage: the berserk timer is the fight.

Chain LightningStrikes an enemy with a lightning bolt that arcs to another nearby enemy. The spell affects up to 5 targets, inflicting greater Nature damage to each successive target.
Ball LightningInflicts 17500 to 22500 Nature damage to the enemy target.
First Stalagg and Feugen on their two platforms, linked by Tesla coils: kill them within seconds of each other. Then Thaddius, whose Polarity Shift gives every player a positive or negative charge: stand with your own charge to gain damage, near the other to take it.
- Stalagg and Feugen: a tank on each; Magnetic Pull swaps tanks between platforms; kill them together.
- Thaddius: after each Polarity Shift, positives go to one side and negatives to the other. Chain Lightning hits the raid; he berserks after a time limit.
- Tanks
- On the first phase, be ready for the platform swap. On Thaddius, hold him where both sides of the raid can reach him.
- Healers
- Move to your charge's side after every shift; Chain Lightning means steady raid healing.
- Damage dealers
- Move to your charge's side after every shift and push damage: standing with your own charge makes you hit much harder.

The frost wyrm. On the ground, Frost Aura damages everyone, Life Drain curses players and Blizzards move across the floor; he cleaves and sweeps his tail. In the air he encases random players in ice, then breathes a lethal Frost Breath: hide behind the blocks to survive.
- Ground: tank him facing away, decurse Life Drain and move out of Blizzards.
- Air: players turned to ice become cover; everyone else stands behind a block, out of his sight, before the breath lands.
- Tanks
- Hold him facing away from the raid on the ground, with the tail away from the raid too.
- Healers
- Decurse Life Drain at once and heal through the aura; no frost resistance is needed in this version.

Shadow FissureSummons a Shadow Fissure on a nearby enemy player.

Chains of Kel'Thuzad
The lich himself. First, waves of soldiers, Unstoppable Abominations and Soul Weavers come from the alcoves while he channels. Then he fights: Frostbolt (interrupt it), Frost Blast that freezes and damages, Detonate Mana, Shadow Fissures and, on twenty-five players, Chains of Kel'Thuzad mind control. Later, Guardians of Icecrown join.
- Minions: hold the middle of the room and kill abominations and weavers as they come, without pulling the alcoves.
- Kel'Thuzad: spread out, interrupt Frostbolt, move out of fissures, control mind-controlled players.
- Guardians: tank or shackle the Guardians of Icecrown while the raid finishes him.
- Tanks
- Off-tanks pick up abominations in the first phase and the Guardians of Icecrown later.
- Healers
- Spread out so Frost Blast hits as few as possible, and heal its victims at once.
- Damage dealers
- Interrupt every Frostbolt, move out of Shadow Fissures, and never stack for Frost Blast.
Before you go
- Clear the four wings in any order; their portals open the Frostwyrm Lair.
- Bring frost resistance only if you need it; Sapphiron is tuned for normal gear.
- Level 80, no attunement. The original raid left with patch 3.0.2; this is the level-80 version for 10 and 25 players.
