Fury Warrior Guide — Class Guides · WoW Classic

Dual-wield damage from Bloodthirst, Flurry and a deeper Rage pool: a raid damage tree.

A plate-wearing melee fighter who builds Rage by dealing and taking damage and spends it on attacks, shouts and stances. Warriors tank with a shield in Defensive Stance or deal melee damage with two-handed or dual-wielded weapons. More about the warrior

How to play

Fury is the raid damage tree. You dual-wield, keep Battle Shout up and turn Rage into Bloodthirst, Whirlwind and Heroic Strike. Flurry speeds up your next swings after every critical strike, Unbridled Wrath adds Rage from white hits, and Death Wish and Recklessness stack for burst on bosses. Most Fury warriors take Impale and Deep Wounds from Arms too.

The rotation is a priority list rather than a sequence: Bloodthirst when ready, Whirlwind when ready, and Heroic Strike queued whenever you have Rage to spare. A queued Heroic Strike also makes your off-hand hit more often while it waits. Some Fury warriors use one slow two-hander instead, relying on Slam or, in Horde groups, the shaman's Windfury Totem.

Fury is limited by threat: you hit hard enough to pull enemies off a fresh tank. Watch your threat, hold Heroic Strike when you're close to the tank, and use Execute for the last 20% of a boss's health, where it replaces everything else.

Rotation and priorities

  1. 1Keep Battle Shout up for your group.
  2. 2Bloodthirst whenever it is ready.
  3. 3Whirlwind whenever it is ready, in Berserker Stance.
  4. 4Heroic Strike (Cleave on several enemies) whenever your Rage is high, so it never caps.
  5. 5Below 20% health, Execute replaces everything else.
  6. 6Death Wish and Recklessness together with trinkets for the burn phase or the execute.

Strengths and weaknesses

Strengths

  • The highest melee damage in Classic raids with good gear.
  • Scales with every upgrade: hit, crit and Rage feed each other.
  • Can off-tank in Defensive Stance with a shield.
  • Death Wish and Recklessness give big burst for kill windows.

Weaknesses

  • Needs heavy gear and consumables to perform.
  • Pulls threat easily: you have to watch your threat.
  • Takes 10% more damage in Berserker Stance and dies first to cleaves.
  • Weak leveling before Bloodthirst and the dual-wield talents come together.

What to look for

  • Two one-handed weapons: a slow main hand (2.6 speed or more) for bigger Heroic Strikes and Whirlwinds, and the best off-hand you can find. Swords and maces suit Humans, axes suit Orcs.
  • Hit until 9% (6% with +5 weapon skill), then Strength and crit. White swings keep gaining from hit beyond the cap, but much less.
  • Crusader on both weapons; Strength or Agility on the rest.
  • Raid consumables are a large part of Fury damage: elixirs, Strength food and Rage potions.

Items worth chasing

  • Lionheart HelmCrafted plate helm with Strength, crit and hit.
  • Devilsaur GauntletsCrafted leather gloves with attack power and hit.
  • Edgemaster's Handguards+7 weapon skill with axes, daggers and swords.
  • Hand of JusticeExtra attacks and attack power in a trinket slot.
  • Blackhand's BreadthA trinket of critical strike chance.
  • Onslaught GirdleStrength, hit and crit in one raid belt.
