How the run goes
A titan dig above Whelgar's Excavation, overrun by crocolisks, raptors and Dragonmaw orcs. Fight through the waterlogged thickets past Saltspine, Shadetooth and the Highland Horror to the Relic Guardian, which only wakes when its console is used.
Group: A tank, a healer and three damage dealers. Tremor Totem or Fear Ward helps against Shadetooth; a hunter or shaman can slow and kite the Relic Guardian if needed.
Route
The game has no interior map of Excavation Site: Wetlands we can draw on, so the route is written out below.
1.The lake and thickets
From the lakeshore, where Saltspine patrols, along the trail through the tall grass to Shadetooth, then past the slimes to the Highland Horror.
2.The titan platform
Up to the dig site's platform. Clear the room, get ready, then use the console beside it to wake the Relic Guardian.
Boss by boss
The lake and thickets
On the way: Crocolisks by the water, Thicket Hunters and raptors hidden in the grass, slimes around the Highland Horror and Dragonmaw orcs.
Fatal BiteSteals 40 life from the target enemy.
Dust StormKicks up dust, inflicting 35 Physical damage to enemies within 10 yds and reducing hit chance with attacks by 25%.
A crocolisk patrolling the edge of the lake. Fatal Bite steals the tank's health, and Dust Storm makes attacks around it miss.
- Tanks
- Pull it alone from its patrol and build threat before the damage dealers start; Dust Storm makes your attacks miss.
- Healers
- Fatal Bite drains the tank's health into Saltspine; heal through it steadily.
- Damage dealers
- Give the tank a few seconds to build threat before you open up, since Dust Storm slows the tank's threat.
Terrifying RoarCauses nearby enemies to flee in fear for 5 sec.
A raptor stalking the trail with two Thicket Hunters. Terrifying Roar sends nearby players fleeing, possibly into hidden packs, and it enrages when nearly dead.
- Tanks
- Fight it where the tall grass is already cleared; a Fear Ward or Tremor Totem keeps you from running into new packs.
- Healers
- Save cooldowns for the last fifth of its health, when it enrages and hits the tank much harder.
- Damage dealers
- Kill the Thicket Hunters first, then Shadetooth; stand back from its roar if you're ranged.
A plant creature among slimes, wanted by Rethiel the Greenwarden for Horrors in the Highland. It drops the Horrible Rootcore but no gear.
- Tanks
- Pull it without the slimes around it, and hold it until the group kills it.
- Healers
- It's a short fight: keep the tank up and watch for slimes joining the pull.
- Damage dealers
- Kill it quickly and loot the Horrible Rootcore for the quest.
The titan platform
A titan construct that stands inert until someone uses the console beside its platform. It smashes the area in front of it, knocks the tank back, stuns those near it, and its thunderclap slows everyone in melee range.
- Tanks
- Face it away from the group, and keep a wall behind you if you can so the knockback doesn't throw you far.
- Healers
- Stay back, out of its stuns; heal the tank through the smashes, and a hunter or shaman can kite it if the tank falls.
- Damage dealers
- Melee stand behind it; ranged players stay back. Use the console only when everyone is ready.
Before you go
- Shadetooth's Terrifying Roar can send players running into packs hidden in the tall grass: clear the grass first, or bring Tremor Totem or Fear Ward.
- The Relic Guardian stays inert until someone uses the console beside its platform. Clear the room and get ready before you press it.
- Keep ranged players away from the Relic Guardian: it knocks back and stuns those around it.
- Hold on to the Titan Relic it drops: Alliance players take it to Prospector Whelgar, Horde players to Thunder Bluff.
- No key or attunement. Built for levels 26–31; its quests can be picked up from level 24, but the Relic Guardian at the end is level 31.
