TBC Anniversary PvP: Three Arena Seasons, More Battleground Honor and Cheaper Older Gear
Burning Crusade Classic Anniversary is on its third Arena season. Along the way Blizzard raised the Honor earned in battlegrounds, started showing each team's MMR after Arena matches and moved older Arena gear to Honor vendors at lower prices. Here is where PvP stands and how to gear up now.

Arena seasons so far
| Season | Started | What came with it |
|---|---|---|
| Season 1 | February 17, with each region's weekly reset | Three arenas: the Ring of Trials in Nagrand, the Circle of Blood in Blade's Edge Mountains and the Ruins of Lordaeron. The old honor ranks don't return; ranked play happens in the Arena. |
| Season 2 | Announced with Phase 2 on May 14, after a two-week off-season | Honor wasn't reset; unspent Arena Points became Honor at 1 to 10; a Gladiator mount for the top 0.5% of players. |
| Season 3 | September 1, with each region's weekly reset | Season 2 ended the week of August 16; unspent Arena Points again became Honor at 1 to 10; new gear from vendors in Shattrath and Nagrand. |
More Honor from battlegrounds
A hotfix on April 1 significantly increased the Honor earned in every battleground. Blizzard didn't publish a percentage, but battlegrounds now pay out more for the same games, which matters most for gear sold for Honor.
Honor was boosted during the pre-patch as well, until the expansion launched on February 5; TBC Anniversary Launch: Level 70, Blood Elves, Draenei and the First Outland Raids covers that period.
Older Arena gear now costs Honor
Each new season makes the last one's gear easier to get, which helps new and returning PvP players catch up:
- Season 1 gear has been sold by the Honor vendors in Orgrimmar's Hall of Legends and Stormwind's Champion's Hall since Season 2 ended.
- Season 2 gear is sold at a discount by the Area 52 vendors in Netherstorm, with no Arena rating requirement.
- Season 2 belts, bracers, boots, rings and necklaces have also been sold for a discounted Honor price at the Hall of Legends and the Champion's Hall since a September 10 hotfix.
See the MMR you played against
Since June 2, the screen after an Arena match shows each team's matchmaking rating (MMR) from before the match. Blizzard added it to give players more context for how their own MMR changes after a win or a loss.
Gearing up for PvP now
- Start with battlegrounds. With higher Honor gains, Honor is the quickest route to Season 1 gear and the Season 2 off-pieces.
- Buy Season 2 off-pieces with Honor in Orgrimmar or Stormwind, and check Area 52 for the rest of Season 2 at its discounted price.
- Spend Arena Points on Season 3, sold in Shattrath and Nagrand: unspent points have been converted to Honor at each season's end.
- Plan your build in the TBC talent calculator and compare the curated PvP builds.
