How the run goes

A two-boss twenty-five-player raid in Blade's Edge. High King Maulgar and his four lieutenants fight together at the entrance; Gruul the Dragonkiller waits in his cavern beyond.

Group: Twenty-five players with four to five tanks for Maulgar (a warlock for Krosh, a hunter or mage-tank for Olm's felhound, warriors or druids for the rest), healers for each tank and the raid, and damage dealers.

A council of five: Maulgar, Kiggler the Crazed, Blindeye the Seer, Olm the Summoner and Krosh Firehand. Each needs its own tank.

    Tanks
Warriors hold Maulgar (he charges at half health) and Blindeye; a mage tanks Krosh by stealing his spell shield; warlocks hold Olm and deal with his felhunters; hunters or a druid kite Kiggler.
    Healers
Every tank group needs a healer; the mage on Krosh and the warlock on Olm take steady damage.
    Damage dealers
Interrupt Blindeye's heals and kill him first, then Olm, Kiggler, Krosh and Maulgar.

    • ShatterShatters all enemies turned to stone, dealing damage to their allies based on proximity.
    • Growth
    • Ground SlamSnares all nearby enemies, turning them to stone.
    • ReverberationSilences nearby enemies, preventing them from casting spells for 4 sec.
    • Cave InCause a shower of rocks and debris to pelt the targetted area

Gruul grows stronger over time. Hurtful Strike hits the second-highest player in melee; Ground Slam throws the raid up and then Shatter: players stand apart or the stone explodes onto their neighbours. Rocks fall from the ceiling.

    Tanks
A second tank sits second on threat in melee for Hurtful Strike.
    Healers
Damage rises as he grows: the fight is a race. Heal both tanks.
    Damage dealers
Spread out after every Ground Slam before Shatter lands, and step out of falling rocks.

Before you go

  • Make every Maulgar pull assignment explicit before combat; one uncontrolled caster can collapse the pull.
  • Spread for Shatter and preserve space for players displaced by Ground Slam.
  • No raid attunement. Assign a mage tank and appropriate add tanks for High King Maulgar.
