How the run goes
Ragnaros's lair under Blackrock Mountain. Eight lieutenants guard the paths around the central lake of fire; each of the seven after Lucifron leaves a rune that must be doused with Aqual Quintessence. With every rune doused, Majordomo Executus appears; beat him and he summons Ragnaros in the lake.
Group: Forty players: four to six tanks, ten to twelve healers and damage dealers for the rest. Bring fire resistance for tanks and healers, decursers for Lucifron and Gehennas, a hunter for Tranquilizing Shot and several players who can douse runes.
Map and route
From the entrance to Lucifron and up into Magmadar's cavern, back round to Gehennas, then along the outer paths for Garr, Baron Geddon, Shazzrah, Sulfuron Harbinger and Golemagg. With every rune doused, Majordomo Executus and Ragnaros come last.
1.The first caverns
Down the entrance tunnel to Lucifron and his two Flamewaker guards, then up into Magmadar's cavern. Back down and around to Gehennas.
2.Around the lake
Along the outer paths: Garr and his Firesworn, Baron Geddon, Shazzrah, Sulfuron Harbinger and his priests, and Golemagg with his two Core Ragers. Douse each boss's rune as you pass it.
3.Ragnaros's lair
With all seven runes doused, Majordomo Executus appears with his Flamewaker Healers and Elites at the lake's edge. When you beat him, speak to him in the lair to summon Ragnaros.
Boss by boss

On the way: Core hounds come in packs and revive each other unless all die together. Lava Surgers patrol the tunnels; Ancient Core Hounds and Lava Annihilators need tanks.

Impending DoomInflicts 2000 Shadow damage to nearby enemies after 10 sec.
Lucifron's CurseCurses nearby enemies, increasing the costs of their spells and abilities by 100% for 5 min. This cost increase applies to all spells and abilities, whether they cost mana, rage, or energy.
Shadow ShockInstantly lashes an enemy with dark magic, inflicting Shadow damage.
Lucifron and his two Flamewaker Protectors. He curses the raid so spells cost more mana and casts Impending Doom, a magic debuff that deals heavy damage when it ends; the Protectors can mind-control players.
- Tanks
- Tank Lucifron and each Protector apart, so their area spells don't overlap. The Protectors' mind control can turn a player on the raid: crowd control or dispel them quickly.
- Healers
- Dispel Impending Doom before it expires and remove Lucifron's Curse (mages and druids remove curses), so healers keep their mana.
- Damage dealers
- Kill the Protectors first, then Lucifron. Remove curses if your class can.

Frenzy
PanicPanics nearby enemies, causing them to flee in fear for 8 sec.
Lava BombThrows a Lava Bomb at an enemy, inflicting 3200 Fire damage over 8 sec.
A core hound that fears everyone near it, throws lava bombs that leave burning patches on the floor, and goes into a frenzy that hunters must remove.
- Tanks
- Keep him still with his back to the raid; a fear-immune tank (Fear Ward, Berserker Rage) keeps him from running loose after Panic.
- Healers
- Stay out of fear range and out of the lava patches. The tank takes much more damage while he is frenzied.
- Damage dealers
- Hunters take turns using Tranquilizing Shot the moment he frenzies. Everyone moves out of the burning patches.

Intense Heat
Wrath of RagnarosInflicts 1000 Fire damage to nearby enemies, knocking them back.
Elemental Fire
Magma BlastInflicts 6000 Fire damage to an enemy.
Ragnaros knocks back everyone in melee range, burns the tank and splashes lava on the raid. After a while he submerges and summons Sons of Flame, which must die before he returns.
- Tanks
- Two tanks: Wrath of Ragnaros knocks the tank back, and the second takes him until the first is back. His attacks wear down weapons, so carry a spare.
- Healers
- Fire resistance helps everyone. Heal the tanks through Elemental Fire and the raid through Lava Burst splashes.
- Damage dealers
- Melee leave before each Wrath of Ragnaros and come back after. When he submerges, kill the Sons of Flame quickly.
Before you go
- Assign curse and magic dispels before pulling Lucifron and Gehennas.
- Bring fire protection for progression and make sure multiple players can douse the runes.
- Lava Surgers and Lava Annihilators need active pickup; a cleared-looking route can still contain patrols.
- Attunement to the Core unlocks Lothos's shortcut. Aqual Quintessence or Eternal Quintessence is needed to douse the boss runes; coordinate Hydraxian Waterlords progress across the raid.
