How the run goes

The first dungeon of Outland: a short climb along Hellfire Citadel's outer walls. Watchkeeper Gargolmar holds the first stretch, Omor the Unscarred the next, and at the top Vazruden and his dragon Nazan finish the run. Heroic mode doubles the stakes with stronger hits and fire.

Group: A tank, a healer and three damage dealers from level 60. Fel orcs come in mixed packs with casters and hounds; crowd control on the casters keeps it smooth.

    • Mortal WoundInflicts 150% weapon damage to an enemy and leaves it wounded, reducing the effectiveness of any healing by 5% for 20 sec.
    • SurgeCharges an enemy, inflicting 90 to 110 damage to the target and any of its nearby allies, as well as knocking them all back.
    • RetaliationInstantly counterattack any enemy that strikes you in melee for 15 sec. Melee attacks made from behind cannot be counterattacked.
    • OverpowerInstantly overpowers an enemy, causing weapon damage plus 30. Can only be used after the target dodges. Overpower cannot be blocked, dodged, or parried.

A fel orc commander with two Hellfire Watcher healers. Mortal Wound stacks on the tank and cuts healing; he charges a ranged player with Surge and uses Retaliation.

    Tanks
Pick up Gargolmar and pull the watchers in with him; stop attacking during Retaliation.
    Healers
Mortal Wound makes your heals on the tank weaker as it stacks; heal early and keep away from Surge's targets.
    Damage dealers
Kill the two healers first, interrupting their heals, then Gargolmar. Melee stop during Retaliation.

    • RevengeInstantly counterattack an enemy for 77 to 103 damage. Revenge must follow a block, dodge, or parry.

Vazruden the Herald fights first with two sentries while Nazan circles and drops fire. When Vazruden is low, Nazan lands; he breathes fire in front of him and on Heroic roars to fear.

    1. Vazruden the Herald: kill the two sentries, then hold Vazruden while Nazan drops liquid fire from above.
    2. Vazruden and Nazan: Nazan lands. A tank faces him away from the group while the rest burn him and Vazruden.
    Tanks
One tank on Vazruden; when Nazan lands, pick him up and face him away. Move out of liquid fire.
    Healers
Move out of the fire Nazan drops and heal the group through his cone of fire.
    Damage dealers
Kill the sentries, then Vazruden; when Nazan lands, burn him from his side.

Before you go

  • Pull casters around corners to avoid fighting multiple bridge packs.
  • Move immediately out of Nazan's fire rather than trying to finish a cast.
  • Normal has no key requirement. Heroic requires the relevant Hellfire Citadel key and level 70; see the Heroic Keys guide for reputation and phase rules.
